Media education is the process by which we teach our students how to analyze, critique, and understand media systems and their content. We do this by providing them with tools and strategies to help them make sense of what they consume and use these skills to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills.
There are many resources available to teachers looking to implement media education programs. These resources include books, websites, videos, and lesson plans.
There are many challenges to implementing effective media education programs. One challenge is that students may not always know what media systems exist or what media content exists. Another challenge is that students may lack the vocabulary to describe media systems and content. A third challenge is that students may be unaware of the biases inherent in media content.
